Despite it was drizzling on the day when I visited Nafplio, it is still one of the most beautiful places on Greek mainland. Under normal traffic conditions, it takes about 1 hour and 40 minutes to get there from Athens by car.
After spring the weather gradually becomes dry and in the summer it is so dry that there won't be any flowers left, only cactus will survive.
On the way from Athens to Nafplio, one must pass by the Corinth Canal, it is a common place for a stop-over break.
The other attraction near Nafplio is the Mycenae (Μυκῆναι) archaeological site and museum, I visited the site many years ago before the museum was built, so I have to visit again one day to see the museum collections.
