Supporting Reporters in Taiwan 記者不是蒐證工具

Today's more important news I read about rights-related issue back home is:
The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) urges Taiwan's National Police Agency to stop asking media personnel for information about protestors at recent public demonstrations. Read it here, November 19, 2008 Call for Taiwan Police to Stop Pressuring Media for Protest Information

身為媒體工作者,因工作而承受的任何風險,原是媒體從業人員所該有的心理準備,但近來警方向媒體與記者要求提供當日拍攝的影帶及畫面,以供查緝滋事者,此種作為早有前例,不僅嚴重威脅媒體中立角色與專業倫理,也摧毀民眾對記者的信任感。

Hopefully, the fear for harressment by police agencies during Taiwan's Martial Law era will not return to haunt us.
